We are proud to present this year's Silent Auction Featured Artist - Darryl Abraham. Darryl has applied his unique creative style throughout the years capturing all aspects of Naples life in the community he calls home. This year Darryl has created individual pieces representing each event and aspect of the festival to celebrate Naples Grape Festival 2022. We are privileged to make available for purchase, through this auction, all the original artwork created. Each piece is signed and beautifully framed, ready to adorn your home or office. Be among the countless collectors of Darryl's artwork. Each piece will be numbered and has a reserve price of $125.00. Bids will be taken from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. the evening of the Gala. The Highest Bidders will be announced no later than 10:30 p.m. Payment required upon delivery by cash, check, or Venmo. All proceeds go to fund Community Events 2022-23.
The Naples Rotary is proud to feature the work of local artist, Darryl Abraham, at this year's Naples Grape Festival 2022. There are several reasons for our pride:
One, Darryl's dad, George "Doc" Abraham, was a long-time Rotarian whose enthusiasm for our Naples community was infectious. He helped put the Festival on the map through energetic promotion on his and Katy's radio show, "The Green Thumb". Each week he'd ferry grape pies to Rochester media stars, getting them hooked on Naples after one bite! We know Doc would love Darryl's connection to this event.
Two, Darry's work is beloved and familiar to many of us. It's accessible and joyous. We have it in our homes. It graces the entrance to our High School. If Darryl has ever done any art or sign work for you, your invoice arrives in an envelope he illustrated — a unique work!
Three, I referred to Darryl as "local" and he is. He was born here; he grew up on Cohocton Street. He lives there today. He attended Naples Central School, graduating in 1966. He did his undergraduate work at Virginia Commonwealth University and received his master's degree from University of North Carolina. He taught there after graduation, and eventually returned to Naples to raise his family. He's part of the community. He's there with a helping hand and a shy smile.
While Darryl's art features familiar fields, farms and vistas, his work is widely known. It is exhibited in big-city art galleries. It can be found in major collections, in U.S. Embassies across the globe, and in the Smithsonian.
Yes! We're pleased that Darryl's work helps us tell our Naples story. We hope you'll stop at the Rotary Booth on Saturday, September 24th from 2 to 4 and get Darryl to autograph your Naples Grape Festival 2022 Tee-shirt and/or poster!
